Meet our board

Tyler served as a Director and Board Chair of the OSNS for over six years, working in partnership with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to provide leadership to this long standing local charity. This experience lead him to become one of the founding board members of the OSNS Foundation, a group dedicated to securing the financial future of this well respected organization.

 

As a Senior Commercial Accounts Manager with the Royal Bank of Canada Tyler has over 15 years of experience in financial planning, investment banking, corporate finance, and private sector project development. Proven track record of risk management, creation of comprehensive finance plans and managing commercial credit to ensure alignment of corporate objectives within the risk policies of RBC.

 

As a team, Tyler continuously provides clients with risk mitigation strategies and credit structuring solutions uniquely tailored to their business needs. Tyler also works with a number of external partners such as Business Development Canada and Farm Credit Canada to create an investment syndicate with tranches of credit that vary based on the clients risk profile.

Mark is one of the founding board members on the OSNS Foundation board and has been involved with numerous initiatives helping support OSNS, including the Wildstone Colours 4 Kids Run and the Keith Relief Playcourt projects.

 

His board experience includes roles with the Yukon Chamber of Commerce, the Penticton Chamber of Commerce, the Southern Interior Construction Association (SICA), The Mining Suppliers Association of BC (MSABC) and the BC Chapter of the Young President’s Organization (YPO).

 

As President of Wildstone Construction Group, Mark oversees construction operations/services in western and northern Canada for Wildstone. Wildstone is a diversified organization with holdings in construction, real estate, concrete, civil and the environmental sectors. Prior to Wildstone, Mark worked for Canada’s largest provider of sustainable construction materials, the global Lafarge Holcim Group, with stints in Vancouver and Edmonton.

 

Mark graduated from Penticton Secondary and went on to post secondary business education at Langara College and Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Vancouver. He is also a Canadian Construction Association (CCA) Gold Seal Project Manager with training in LEAN construction practices and collaborative multi-party contracts.

 

Mark enjoys almost everything outdoors and loves spending time in the Okanagan with his wife and 3 children.

Peter is a partner with Grant Thornton LLP (Canada), which is an international accounting firm.  He holds the Chartered Professional Accountant (CA legacy) designation and well as the Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA) designation.  He specializes in assisting privately owned business with the numerous business and tax issues they face, both externally and internally.

 

Peter and his family moved to the Okanagan from Ontario in 1996.  They have come to enjoy the many outdoor activities that the Okanagan Valley has to offer, which include cycling, mountain biking and all kinds of skiing.  He and his wife still marvel at the beauty of Penticton and the surrounding area.

 

Peter feels privileged to be able to lend his time and energy helping assist the worthy and vital cause of the OSNS.

Bernice is a graduate of Penticton Secondary School. She obtained a BA (History) and Diploma in Art History from UBC, then an LLB from UVIC. After practising in Vancouver with a large firm, she returned to her home-town of Penticton, where for the last twenty years she has had a solo general solicitor’s practice, focusing on corporate, commercial and estate planning and administration matters.

 

Bernice was a director of the OSNS many years ago and is delighted to return to the fold to assist with the establishment of the OSNS Legacy Foundation. She has been a director and the president of the Penticton Secondary Schools Bursary and Scholarship Foundation for twenty years. She has also been a director of Penticton and Area Cooperative Enterprise (PACE) for several years. PACE is a social enterprise that seeks to empower individuals with mental health barriers through employment.

 

Bernice and her husband Charlie have six children. This has kept them very busy over the years. She and Charlie and the family are avid mountain bikers, skiers, hikers, gardeners and cooks.

Katherine joined the OSNS Foundation Board in March 2020.

 

Katherine practiced as a Consultant Paediatrician at Penticton Regional Hospital from 1990 until 2019 when she retired. She grew up in Australia and obtained her medical degree in 1976 at Monash University, Melbourne.. Her specialty training includes General Paediatrics ( UBC 1984) and Paediatric Rheumatology ( UBC 1986). She developed and operated an Outreach service for children with chronic rheumatic diseases for the wider Interior Health region. Katherine provided consultation services to OSNS throughout her career and valued the habilitation services that were available for her patients. Her 2 daughters both attended the Kinderplace program in their preschool years.

 

Administrative experience includes being Department Head of Paediatrics and serving on the Medical Advisory Committee at Penticton Regional Hospital. Katherine joined the OSNS Board of Directors in 2014. She was a Director on the BC Pediatric Society Board from 2014 to 2019 Volunteer experience incudes two Rotary trips overseas in Ethiopia providing care to patients undergoing plastic surgery for cleft palate disorders and burn scarring.

 

In retirement Katherine is enjoying travel, exploring art and getting fitter. She enjoys racket sports, cross country skiing and long walks with her dog.

As Executive Director of The OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre, Manisha has the ever interesting role of operational oversight at the Centre. A believer in the important struggle to focus on what matters, Manisha has spent many years on pediatric treatment teams – working to build strong kids. Fond of – literally - all children, she feels a particular bond with children who have short attention spans.

 

Manisha has spent the recent years of her career in leadership roles both abroad and in Canada. Her areas of focus include curriculum accessibility for children with learning differences, transdisciplinary clinical care, and organizational energy improvement in health care settings. She is originally a developmental speech-language pathologist.

 

In her current role, Manisha is once again grateful to be part of a purpose much bigger than herself. Manisha loves great words, audaciously innovative ideas, her family, guitar riffs and the smell of expresso. Not always in that order.
